Learn to Skate

Our new and improved Skating Academy offers Learn to Skate lessons to children and teens. Our lessons are designed to teach skating in a way that’s progressive, structured, safe and fun! During our sessions skaters are tested according to the Ice Sports Industry (skateisi.com) standards when they are ready to move up to the next level of achievement. Through our professionally run program skaters will learn the much needed skills that will allow them to become a competitive figure skater, an elite hockey player, or a life-long recreational skater.

Figure Skating 101

S&T Bank Arena and the IPA Skate Team are proud to offer the Figure Skating 101 program designed for figure skaters transitioning from the Alpha level of Learn to Skate into a more sport-specific program. Skaters will be introduced to beginner jumps, spins, turns and extensions that will develop at the skaters pace and increase in difficultly with the level. Lessons are taught in smaller groups so coaches can focus on more individual attention. This cost-effective program bridges the gap from Learn to Skate to more advanced figure skating. Through the course of the program, skaters will move through the levels of Beta, Gamma, Delta and Freestyle 1-10 and determine if they would like to take a recreational approach to skating in general or choose a more competitive path. We are very excited about the opportunity to bring this comprehensive training program to Indiana, PA!

Jump & Spin

S&T Bank Arena and the IPA Skate Team are proud to offer the Jump & Spin program designed for figure skaters who have passed Freestyle 1 and are working on Freestyle 2 elements through Freestyle 10. The program will run similarly to Figure Skating 101, offering 30-minutes of instruction and 30-minutes of practice in total. This is a great opportunity for those looking to get an additional day on the ice with a specific element focus without adding another private lesson. It is a great supplement to the Figure Skating 101 program for those that are learning more difficult jumps that require a full ice pattern set up. In the group atmosphere, participants will motivate one another to achieve higher goals and work together to become overall improved skaters. This is a purely element-based program where solo elements are covered in detail and combination jumps and spins are introduced. Level testing evaluations will not be conducted within the parameters of this program.

Freestyle Skating

We have exclusive freestyle ice practice for all figure skating levels. These Freestyle Sessions are for aspiring future recreational and competitive figure skaters wanting to practice their skills on their own, individuals looking for private skating lessons under the direction of one of our professional instructors, and figure skaters that are in ISI Freestyle levels 1 - 10. ISI and USFS members are both welcome.
