Beginner Gymnastics

With the Olympic Games quickly approaching and summer just around the corner, brush up on your gymnastics skills to impress all your friends at the park! Learn skills on all four USA Gymnastics events (vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor). No prior experience is necessary!

This program is open to ALL skill levels!

Tate’s website will require you to enter a credit card to process all the forms, however your card will not be charged!

  • Girls: Please wear a one-piece leotard. Hair must be pulled back and out of eyes and bring a water bottle.
  • Boys: Please wear shorts and a t-shirt tucked in and bring a water bottle.

Intro to Boxing

Get ready to work your whole body and mind! Watkins Boxing will lead you through rounds of different punches and combos along with focusing on the proper fundamentals and techniques. Learn the basics of boxing while improving your cardio, muscle strength, reflexes and frame of mind. This program has a maximum of 15 participants.

Art - Learn to Weave

Have you ever wanted to try weaving on a loom? Well you can do just that when you sit down to a four-harness loom in the workshop at the Artists Hand Gallery, located right in downtown Indiana. There will be one, 5-hour class, offered in February and one 5-hour class offered in April.

When you register for one of the 2 dates (Feb 17 OR April 20), you are only registering for ONE CLASS.

If you would like to attend more than one class, you must complete the   registration and pay the additional fee to participate in the class multiple times.

Within the 5-hour class period, a participant will be able to complete a small dish towel or table mat in colors of their choosing. Each class has a 3 person limit due to available equipment and will still run with 1 person.

Art - Painting with Acrylics & Oils

Did you ever wonder what it was like to paint like an artist? Or how to use acrylic and oil paints together? Well, Mark Altrogge is going to show you how. Participants will follow Mark’s lead and learn to paint as he does; first layer with acrylics, second layer is a light-colored glaze and the next layers are quick drying (Alkyd) oils. This class has a 10 person maximum.

Materials needed:
Acrylic Paints (heavy or good quality) (Suggested Brands—Liquitex Heavy Body, Gold, Windsor & Newton Galleria available at Michael’s, Dick Bick, Jerry’s Artarama) - titanium white, cadmium red medium, alizarin crimson, cadmium yellow medium, pthalo blue (green shade), pthalo green (blue shade), burnt umber, burnt sienna, yellow ochre, dioxazine purple, raw   sienna, cadmium orange

Quick Drying Oils (Alkyd) (Suggested Brands—DaVinci Fast Dry, C.A.S.       AlkydPro, Windsor & Newton Griffin Alkyd available at Micheal’s (online  only), Dick Bick, Jerry’s Artarama) - same colors as above

Brushes for acrylics or oils- Various sizes

Materials provided: Matte medium (Liquitex), Stretched canvases 11x14, 16x20, sketch pencils, paper/Styrofoam plates to use as pallets, paper    towels, mineral spirits for cleaning, plastic cups for water

Art - Drawing 2

This program will expand upon the skills learned in the Drawing Basics class. While some drawing experience is required, it is not mandatory to have previously taken the Drawing Basics class. Leslie Swentosky will lead the program encouraging participants while providing them with more challenging subject matter. Attention to composition, form, shading and highlighting will be class focal points. This class has a maximum of 10 participants.

Materials needed:
2B, 4B, & 6B pencils kneaded eraser, pink pearl eraser (Brand name supplies are only suggestions; generic items are also acceptable.)
