Your First Skating Experience - Ages 4+

Our Learn To Skate program is designed to teach beginner skaters in a way that’s progressive, structured, safe and fun! We follow the Ice Sports Industry (ISI) standards in order to advance skaters to the next level of achievement. Skill assessments are built into the sessions with an evaluation certificate and level-specific patches.

For the 2024-25 Season we will be offering 7 sessions of our Learn to Skate program, with both Tuesday and Friday sessions. Your registration fee also includes ISI Membership, Rental Skates and a Free Public Skate Punch Card Pass redeemable for 8 Public Skates.

Skate Choice Disclaimer

Each session is 8 weeks long and held once a week, either on Tuesday or Friday evenings. You can choose to register for one session at a time or multiple sessions concurrently. Each class consists of 30 min of instruction and a 30 min practice per day. 

A completed registration and payment are required before stepping on the ice for the program.

You may only attend classes on the day of the session you are registered for.

We do not offer make up classes for participant absences. 

*Registrations are NOT accepted after the second class of a session

For the Learn To Skate Program, you will need the following :

- Pair of skates (rental skates included)
- Helmet (Required for ALL Skaters)
- Gloves or mittens
- Long pants
- Jacket
- High socks (thinner socks are better) *Do not wear two pairs of socks
- Clothes that permit easy movement
- Extra layers if you get cold easily

Skate Choice Disclaimer:
- Tot 1 & Tot 2 Level Classes (Ages 4-5) are required to use figure skates (no hockey skates allowed)
- After completion of Tot 1 & Tot 2 levels, they can transition to hockey skates if desired upon entering Tot 3 upon instructor and Skating Director approval.

- Pre-Alpha Level Skaters (Ages 6 & up) are required to start and complete the first 4 classes in figure skates.
- IF the skater is passing ALL the necessary skills by the 4th class, the skater can be transitioned into hockey skates upon instructor and Skating Director approval.

Closed For The Season

S&T Bank Arena is a seasonal facility, the Ice Rink and all Ice Programs will be suspended from April – August. Our office hours during the summer season is Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM, feel free to reach out with any questions.
